After saying goodbye to my family and friends (props to all of you, ill miss you like crazy) and a ridiculously long flight with an unexpected layover in Anchorage, Alaska (like a true American a-hole, I'm wearing shorts expecting to walk out in hot-ass Taiwan) I finally touched down in Taipei. And I'm already starting off on a good note with my foreign relations. Figuring i'd take a shot at refreshing my Chinese, I asked the old Taiwanese woman next to me on the plane if her food was good. "Hao chr ma?" she responded with a look like she was lost or didnt hear me, so naturally i repeat. Again, look of confusion. "I dont speak English." she says brokenly. Hahaha!I quickly came to the realization that my Chinese wasnt as good as i had previously assumed. it was then that i stopped talking and went back to my movie.
im going to be living in a town where there are very few, if any, english speaking people...
