whats up kids!
i hope everyones summer in cleveland is full of hot humid days and frequent visits to huntington beach with the occassional red-flagged bacteria caution.
myself? i made my first trip to a taiwan beach this past weekend. it was there where i finally received the highly anticipated annual red lobster edition sunburn. im straight stubborn when it comes to sun-block, probably because UV rays are a hoax...what am i? a vampire?
i visited some people i know in the southern city of tainan. about an hour train ride from my digs, so i hopped one jesse james style (if you havent noticed, trains are my main means of transportation here. CHOOO CHOOO!!!) and got there late on saturday night. after spending hours debating on where we were gona eat before we went to a movie, it was actually time to go to the movie. so my dinner consisted of a bucket of popcorn, a hot dog, and the company of one Leo D. i saw Inception that night, for the third time. great movie in my opinion, which is usually the only one that matters, so lucky them...although ill admit 3 times is a bit much. the crew i was with hadnt seen it though, and who am i to deny them total mind twist and awe-inspiring anti-gravitational fight scenes...
the next day was suns-out-guns-out. soakin up some sun and jumpin through waves with dolphin-like grace on the west-coast of taiweezy. chilled there for a few hours...burried a dude and dressed him as a mermaid, ate some sweet potatoes cooked over a beach fire and chased some dogs...im so patrick swayze. Point Break.
ive been seeing a lot of movies lately actually. Inception 3 times. unfortunately i saw Salt, which was as stupid as it looks/sounds, but free, so in my defense it was something to do. nuff said about that one. and i just got back from seeing Despicable Me. hilarious. i recommend this to anyone. i got to see it in 3D as well, which was fun. it was my first 3D flick since i saw Matinee (starring John Goodman; who shouldve stuck with his role as Dan in 'Rosanne' at that point in his career) with colin in 5th grade...come to think of it, i dont know if that movie was actually in 3D or just about 3D movies...either way, from what i remember it was a pretty lame waste of time and my parents money.
teaching is going well. the kids never fail to provide some kinda laughter once class time comes around. the lessons usually flow smoothly as well, with the occassional bumpy one here and there but i do what i can to keep'em entertained. i taught a lesson on slang last week and recorded some conversations the kids came up with using some of 200 words i gave them ('boo', 'booty', badonkadonk', 'ice', 'sweet', 'flavor', 'hustle', 'meat head', and 'ish' to name a few). pretty comical stuff. i have another one comin up soon so hopefully i can get a few posted on here for all to check out.
ive just planned a cruise to okinawa, japan with my work friends. we head out to sea in september for about four days so ive got that to look forward to. more on it when the time gets closer...
im heading back to taipei this weekend so well see what kinda stories ill return with on monday. im itchin to get my dance on, so thats a good start...
